Keep Going, You Are Doing Great I Promise.
Hello everyone! I hope you are all doing fabulous and that you have had a good July so far. Blimey I can't believe it's more than halfway through 2017! This year is going quicker than the queue for frappuccinos at Starbucks.
I have seen and heard things from not just what is happening in the world right now, but what is happening with my friends and family. I am heartbroken seeing what my loved ones are sadly going through, and I know we all have our bad times now again, so this is me giving you a virtual hug in the form of me rambling on the internet.
Life is nowhere as polished and perfect as the posed pictures and videos at concerts or raves that litter our news feed every day. It's even harder when you feel like you are closed off in this glass box, watching everyone around us have fun and enjoy life, whilst our lives are storming all around us. It is important to know that you matter. All of you; your problems, the things you enjoy, no matter how big, small or niche they are. So yes, we might not be a politician dealing with a national crisis or dealing with the financial market. Yes, these things do matter, but it doesn't mean you should lower yourself or your problems because you feel like you don't matter in the world around you. It's not about if the whole world is waiting for your next Instagram story; you all have people who love and care for you, and that matters above all of this. These are the people will stick with you and help you through, no matter where you live, no matter where life takes you. Never forget you are loved, and how loved you all truly are.
Related to this, it doesn't mean you need to have an army of friends, a few core members in your life are just as important. I have never been good at socialising and making friends, and I always thought I was a failure because lots of people didn't know who I was and I never really fit in. Being older, I know none of that matters anymore. I will never be a Blair Waldorf with a huge contact list on my smartly polished Blackberry (don't worry I forgot they still exist too!) but I know I have close friends who I will love and look after till the end. I will always be here for all my friends and family, but it always is nice to hang out with your dear sisters, eating chocolate and watching Ru Paul's Drag Race when you were supposed to be going out for a run. And the world might not accept me, but I am so thankful my friends and family do, and it's the same with you. Like I said, you are much more loved and appreciated than you give yourself credit for.
So if you ever feel like nothing matters, that it won't get better and you are about to give up, I beg of you, please don't. I understand, I know what it's like to not want to continue and when you can't see the point of getting that hope back in you. But I am here to tell you that hope is like the stars in the sky; just because you don't see them all the time, it doesn't mean they don't stop shining. Hope is the blanket of stars the will shine the light no matter how dark it gets. Find what you love, embrace every part of it and let that guide you to where the rest of your life begins. I know it's easier said than done and I apologise if I am sounding tactless, that is never my intention at all. I just want to know that you are not alone and you can make it, we are all here to help you.
Sending you all my love and just a friendly reminder; you are doing great and keep going!
Love,
Em x
